As a bilingual, I occupy three spaces; English, Arabic, and the space in between. The intersection of the two languages is where I form. This space in between is not just a merging of languages, but a merging of cultures. It is a space specific to those who occupy both worlds but do not belong to either; one that was born out of a yearning for a space to call our own. And so, when you separate the two languages, how can you not get lost in translation? This book studies the formation of the English and Arabic languages and the space between them. It examines what it means to be a creator in this space, featuring an interview with Maan Jalal; a creative, writer, and journalist living in the UAE.
